Overview
A reluctant sale of a Vista RV Crossover XL hybrid camping trailer built in December 2017. The Vista is located in Sydney.
One fastidious owner since new. This camper trailer is made by a small, passionate, family-owned business in Melbourne. It is (in my view) possibly the best-designed and built hybrid camping trailer for Australian conditions. At home in the outback or a caravan park, the Vista XL is easy to tow, relatively lightweight, technically advanced and extremely comfortable. Ideal for singles or couples, it may be less ideal for families due to its relatively compact dimensions (5.9m x 1.9m).
In 2014 when I began my search for a caravan I wrote the self-published Caravan Buyers Guide (edited by RV expert Collyn Rivers of rvbooks.com) which sold 1,500 copies. The Vista Crossover XL was the RV I decided to buy after this exhaustive search, a decision fully supported by my editor. Reason for Sale
As my wife and I get older, our bad backs are starting to dictate what we can and can't do. Very reluctantly for health reasons we must now switch to a more conventional caravan.
Condition
Excellent.
Due to Covid restrictions this Vista has not been used as much as we would have liked. It's had only two gentle offroad trips during its life (Oodnadatta Track and Gawler Ranges) and has spent the rest of its life on bitumen and in caravan and national parks. It has never been used in saltwater, sand dunes or on beaches and has been towed slowly and with great care. In five years it has travelled only about 25,000 km.
The Vista has been regularly serviced at either the Vista factory in Bayswater, VIC or at RVGo in Sydney. It has been washed and waxed after every trip. It has been street parked but has always been kept under the manufacturer-supplied tarpaulin cover when not in use.

Standard Features at Time of Purchase
The single most important safety feature of the Vista is (in my view) its asymmetric suspension. This suspension offers towing stability not found in more conventional RV suspension systems. To my knowledge only one other RV brand in Australia (Track Trailer) has this feature. Although Track Trailer use a slightly different patent you can read about this type of suspension on their website here.

A tow vehicle capable of towing to the specifications above
A towbar fitted with or capable of receiving the DO35 hitch with the hitch base approximately 500mm above ground
A 7-pin round electrical towing socket (female) fitted to the tow vehicle (or 13-pin flat socket with flat-to-round adaptor)
A brake controller fitted to the tow vehicle
An Andersen plug at rear of tow vehicle (to charge the XL's battery during towing)
A round 4-pin reversing camera connection and dashboard-mounted monitor (optional)

The Vista is located on Sydney's Lower North Shore. Since the Vista does not come with an instruction manual, on request from the successful buyer I am happy to do a half-day handover either onsite (on street, excluding awning and annex assembly) or at a nearby caravan park (awning and annex assembly included). Instruction manuals for most third party accessories can be supplied on request. Thereafter the Vista Owner's Forum is an excellent resource full of friendly Vista owners who will be happy to answer your questions.
